KALA COAST as the name suggests, is a proposed centre for Music and Fine Arts, situated in the costal belt of Karnataka. KALA COAST is sited at a distance of just about 15 Km. from Bramhavar (District Udupi) at Haluvalli Village, in the city of Karje. Located on the road heading towards Kunjal- Hebri, this plot, spread over 5.35 acres of land at a distance of just about 1.5 Kms. from the main road and positioned between the villages Petri and Hebri, has been blessed bountifully by nature, making this spectacular spot, especially conducive to serving the purpose of constructing this Global Music & Arts Village.
HISTORY
KALA COAST is the brain child of reputed international musician and composer Sudhir Nayak, based in Mumbai, who is constructively involved in propagating music and arts through various forums around the globe. Complementing Sudhir’s thought of starting a Music and Arts centre with the adage ‘Charity begins at home’, Sudhir’s maternal uncle, Vaidappa Manjunath Padiyar of Mumbai, having roots in the Udupi district of Karnataka, offered the land owned by him at Karje, to be developed and used for such activities. Padiyar’s gesture was greatly motivated by his father Mabukal Manjunath Padiyar’s social life and passion for music and theatre that involved him actively in small groups engaged in such activities in his small home town of Uppinakote in Udupi district.
MISSION
KALA COAST is an endeavor to bring together all those engaged in practicing music and allied art forms from the cross section of the society, together on one platform, to present, practice, perform, discuss, collaborate, and profess their skills. One of the most important attempts that KALA COAST desires to make is to juxtapose pedagogical practices with music and arts, furthering a holistic approach to education in the real sense, which would eventually aid in developing the subtlest sensitivities of the human mind.
KALA COAST aims to creating a musically, artistically and culturally vibrant ambience making this place a hub of such activities within a span of five years with inputs and help from eminent artistes, musicians and well wishers.
OUTCOME
The enterprise of constructing KALA COAST would go a long way in benefitting artistes and students of arts along with the innumerable aficionados of music and arts in the culturally vibrant belt of Costal Karnataka, gradually attracting national and international mileage for Indian music, arts and culture.
MESSAGE
Speaking of an age where on the one hand scientific and technological development is at its peak in India, on the other, we need to reassess the cultural milieu in India today which leaves us very less breathing space for nurturing our rich cultural heritage and diversity of music and art forms. Witnessing the growing complexity in modern human life due to rapid globalization, it is high time we realize the significance of our unique musical, artistic, traditional, cultural and spiritual values which have been inherited by us through generations which go a long way in shaping and enriching our lives considerably. We need to behold the composite culture that exists in India since centuries, for which our country is known to the rest of the world, from a fresh perspective.

Despite India's artistic diversity, seldom is there an opportunity and space for artistes across disciplines to converge and exchange ideas in a spirit of freedom, openness and congeniality. But we look forward to seeing the Music & Arts Village at Karje emerge as one such opportunity and space.....
"I am happy to note that you have planned to organize Kalacoast Global Music and Arts at Karje. I appreciate your keen interest and encouragement for music and art. Hope you will get good response. May Sri Manjunatha Swamy bless your efforts with great success "
